Hilda Mary Philbin (nee Johnson) passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 8, 1932 in Dublin, Ireland the daughter of Robert and Eileen Johnson (nee Shanahan). She held dear her memories with family at home in County Kerry, Ireland.
Hilda touched countless lives throughout her nursing career in many capacities; as a midwife, an orthopedic and cardiac nurse and her cherished role as a hospice nurse. She also enjoyed a second career with her husband as owners of numerous taverns in Chicago, and The Carlton Hotel in Edgerton, WI. Her zest for life and storytelling as well as her genuine love for others and her quick wit made life better for everyone she met.
Hilda is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Michael; children: Michael (Jennifer) of Madison, WI; Robert of Tampa, FL; Maria (Scott) Arne of Lincolnshire, IL and Kathleen (Fred) Schafer of Mount Prospect, IL; grandchildren: Sean and George Philbin; Shannon, Brendan and Ryan Philbin; Jack, Kate and Meg Arne; Mary, Theresa and Charlie Schafer; siblings: Gene (Dag), Ann (Donie), Donal (Margaret), and Margot (Dan) and many nieces and nephews and cherished sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bobby, and her daughter-in-law, Michelle Philbin.
The funeral Mass will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monday April 9 at 11:00am. Visitation will be Sunday, April 8 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm (Rosary at 7:45pm) at Albrecht Funeral Home in Edgerton, WI and Monday at 10:00 am until time of services at the church.
